Double Sunday is the thickest variant of 100% merino wool from Sandnes, and is the perfect base yarn: a thick, non-superwash treated yarn that can be knitted with single and double strands, or silk mohair, to achieve different gauges.
Merino wool is not only insulating, but also wicks moisture away from the body and retains heat even when moist, thanks to the structure of the fibres. Wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in water before it starts to feel wet.
Sandnes ensures that their materials are ethically sourced, and that their wool does not come from sheep that have been subjected to mulesing.

Washing instructions: Machine washable on delicate mode (max 30C). We always advise hand washing to preserve your knits where possible though.
For machine washing, Sandnes recommends that all wool garments are washed separately on a wool program, to ensure the gentlest treatment. Due to the unique absorbency of the merino wool, it is important to centrifuge hand-knitted garments well before drying them on a flat surface, preferably on top of a towel. Never use a laundry bag when washing hand-knitted wool garments. This creates friction that can cause the garment to felt.
